Description: Hill House is a typeface based on the distinctive handwriting of Glasgow architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh (1868-1928). The Hill House is a building originally designed for the publisher Walter Blackie, and is now in the care of The National Trust for Scotland. Now that the copyright on his handwriting style is in the public domain, this typeface is seen everywhere in Glasgow, from jewellers to chip shops!

His life in brief: Jon Hicks is one half of a creative partnership with his wife Leigh, called Hicksdesign. They live and work in the Cotswolds, UK, and are probably most well known for the Firefox and Thunderbird logos.
Hill House : how ? why ?
The typeface was created for the Jon’s wedding invites - his wife is from Glasgow, so the Mackintosh connection was something they wanted. Instead of buying the font, he created one himself as an experiment in Fontographer.
